The invisible 940nm IR LED 3/6/2023 |

Infrared technology is widely used in various fields, from communications and security to medical and industrial applications. Infrared light is invisible to the human eye, but can be detected by sensors and cameras specifically designed to detect this type of light. A key component of this technology is the infrared LED (light-emitting diode), which emits infrared light in a specific wavelength range. Especially in the fields of military equipment, hunting accessories and security technology, e.g. in surveillance cameras with night vision function or infrared brighteners for night vision devices, infrared LEDs with 940nm wavelength are often used. However, conventional 940nm LEDs have the undesirable side effect that they emit a small proportion of their optical power in the visible wavelength range. Especially in the dark, this leads to the devices being visible by a red glow. For this we have a suitable solution in our program. The 940nm LED NMOP-10133-LS13-NR uses a special LED chip on which an optical bandpass filter is applied to suppress the visible part of the emitted wavelengths, making it completely invisible to the human eye.
This offers a huge advantage in all applications where night vision is required without alerting potential intruders or attackers. The IR LED in the 3535 SMD package is initially available with a FOV of 130° and an optical power of 150mW/sr at a current of 1A. However, it can also be supplied with alternative aperture angles and powers if required. Please do not hesitate to contact us. |
